Hi,

Have connected(or on demand dial) our 2 offices via RRAS VPN Demand dial between 2 2K servers, no problem. only thing that bugs is running a Oracle app through the connection, it starts ok but when the app launches it's giant sql setup query the VPN conn goes into a deep freeze ??? I can do everything else on the conn but this ???
Any ideas ???

Bonus question :)
Is it possible to connect a 2K server RRAS demand dial VPN(PPTP) to a watchguard firewall ,and if it is, how??

What are the upload speeds on the 2 Internet connections you're running the VPNs on? Remember, Upstream Speed - VPN tunnel overhead = total bandwidth for file/app use. Download speeds make NO difference here.

Oracle stuff is also usually OBNOXIOUSLY huge. One of our staff needed to use an Oracle app to obtain grant materials, and the client you need to download just to access the app was 3 meg! Did I mention this user was using dial-up? SHeesh!

Probably what is happening is the Oracle app is using all of the bandwidth just to download the frontend & start, so you can either wait it out & see if it frees the VPN up after a while, or see what other broadband options are available to you.

Well the ul bandwidth is 512Kbit so i don't really see a problem there. Have heard from other former co-worker that he's having the same problem, just that he's not using Oracle but MS-SQL and it does exactly the same. It even does it sometimes when he's just running remote desktop.
