2K Server and External DNS

hi,

i am trying to setup DNS for a website on a different box than the DNS is hosted on. I set up a new primary zone, then added 2 name servers and 2 A records. Now when I ping the name servers by DNS name I get a reply, but when I ping mail.mydomain.com I get "Unknown Host or Bad IP". I can ping all IP's by IP's....thanks in advance

Did you register the new domain name with your ISP ?

I am my own ISP, I also figured out why I could ping ns1 and ns2, it is because my name servers where registered with verisign when i registered my domain name....the server is listening on the specified IP on port 53.....I can get this to work fine in NT4....
