I had to repair windows and since then it tries to load my audio driver and comes up "The File "2gmgsmt.sf2" on Creative WDM Audio Driver Disk is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click OK.

I have searched for this file on my system but can't find it. I'm on Windows XP and it's a Dell Dimension 4500. I looked through all of my disks that came with the system and I don't have a Creative WDM Audio Driver Disk? Anyone know how to help? Thank you so much!

Look up the model number and manufacturer of your computer. Go to there site and download the newest audio driver for your system. Uninstall your old one first. Now install the new one and your sound should be working again.

Let us know the results.

It's the "Multimedia Audio Controller" that's giving me the problem - should I just uninstall this one?

My advice is what I said above. Uninstall the audio driver you currently have, download the newest one from site of who made your computer. Then install it. That should fix the problem.

Ok.....I'm not sure how to find it. I'm on Dell's site and it comes up with a ton of audio driver files. When I put in Creative WDM it just gives me directions for ME users and I don't even think it's the same driver...

ok if you post your model number on here I or someone else will find the drivers for you. Post your dell model number of the computer on here.
