2Exch2K servers, 2 forests, VPN

Hi,

I have the following setup.
A forest with an exchange 2K server and users(Site1)
A forest and users(Site2)
A VPN connection between the two sites.
The VPN is not setup on routers, but on the Win2K servers.

1. When i install exchange 2k on Site 2 will the E2k from Site1 be available in the first routing group, and will mail be replicated between the two sites.

2. Will i be able to administor both sites from one one server, or still have to do it from both sites.

3. Or what would be the best setup for the above configuration. Site2's forest can be re-installed as it is currently not being used.

1)No. Exchange is bound to a single forest, and there would be no GAL replication even with a trust set up.

2)No. Administration will need to be done on a per-forest basis.

3)If you need to have all users sharing a single GAL, your best option is to take down the second forest and rebuild it as a second domain in Site 1's Forest.

After thinking about the whole setup last night, i was considering doing something similiar, thanks a lot for the help. Guess what i'm doing today
