Hello,

I am looking to buy some Cisco switches for a network of about 200 users. Would you recommend the 48 port 2950s or 2960s, and why?

Thanks,

Off the top of my head, the differences I can think of are as follows:

1.The QoS features of the 2960 are somewhat enhanced a little.
2. I prefer the dual-purpose and SFP uplink support in the 2960.
3. As you might expect, the 2960 has a superior switching fabric and an improved packets per second performance.
4. And perhaps more importantly, the 2950 has had its End-Of-Life announcement recently. I dont thinkyou'll be ableto buy them anymore after the end of this year and you won't get any more software maintenance releases by the end of next year. And support on them runs out approx 5 years later (so around 2011)
