Can you configure a port on the 2950 for a mulivlan? For example can port 20 belong to both vlan 3 and vlan 4.

The 2950 was bought as the suggested replacment unit for a 3500. The 3500 has multivlan capability, but we have been unsuccessful in finding infomration on multivlans for the 2950.

is this port going to be your uplink to another switch or is there going to be a phone connected then a pc connected to the phone?

Depending on your answer above depends on the config.

Switch to switch

2950(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/20
2950(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
2950(config-if)#switchport tunrk allowed vlan 1,3-4, 1002-1005
2950(config-if)#no shutdown

Note 2950 switches only support 802.1q trunking so make sure your connecting switch is configured for dot1q.

Switchport to VOIP Phone

vlan 3 data
vlan 4 voice

2950(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/20
2950(config-if)#switchport mode access
2950(config-if)#switchport access vlan 3
2950(config-if)#switchport access voice vlan 4
2950(config-if)#spanning-tree portfast
2950(config-if)#no shutdown

Hopefully this helps

The multi-vlan feature of the 2900XL/3500XL is not available in any other platform as far as I know. Trunking is an alternative but your end device must support 802.1q trunking.

Good luck

Andy
