2900XL Login...

At the ios prompt i typed in: aaa new-model

Now then i try to login to the switch it asks for both, USERNAME and PASSWORD...

before i typed that command in, it just prompted for password.

How can i get it back to the way it was?

If you have SNMP enabled for RW string, you can use that to redo the config file.. or you might try a password recovery sequence which normally lets you into the system and then edit the config.. in this case you load the driver for the flash card and then edit the flash card files.

I have done this recovery myself.. follow the directions CAREFULLY.. it's not quite the same as a router password recovery but it does work.

If you haven't written your change to the startup config (copy running startup) then just reboot the switch and you'll get it back the way it was.
