2900xl cannot console

Hi:
I have a 2900xl that I cannot console to it.
The problem is not the serial cable.
Any help please.

I am using the flat blue cable with a "serial" connector to the PC. My setting are 9600, 8, none, 1 sttop bit and xon xoff flow control..

Any help please...

If you know the IP address try using Hyper Terminal built into most Windows operating systems.

Maybe try different speeds, sometimes they are changed to speed up recoveries. maybe 19200, 38400, 57600 or 115200.
If you don't know the history, it might have had an upgrade problem !

Also you might want to check you have the right com port. Easy mistake.

You need to hit the enter key too before it will display anything.

Also, if it is configured for telnet that could be an option.

What com software are you using?

try using Tera Term Pro, it's freeware. i've had better results with this than hyperterminal... good luck!!
