Here's the situation: I have a closet full of hubs fed by 100 Mb ethernet. There's about 85 devices, with the possibility of adding about 12 more.

Do I:

Just get 4 2924's and daisy chain the together with cross-over cables?

Use 2924's with hubs for the additional devices?

Get some 3524's with the Gigastack modules (which I'm not sure how to configure those)? Not sure how well they work.

Any other ideas anyone might suggest?

Thanks in advance

The cost breakout shows that 100 is the magic port density number for going from stackables to a chassis like the 4000. Personally I would dump the stackables and get a 4006. It's less heat, less rack space and less of a mess overall for that many ports. It also easy management from a single point and yes, I know you can cluster the stackables but it's one more then to configure and hope you get it right.

Or a couple of 3548-XL's - and Gig them together...
Ok, ok ... you'll be a port short and no room for expansion. (ever wish you'd not started typing?). I'll shutup now and agree with YBN, go for the chassis solution...

Thanks for the help guys, I went with the 4006. Definitely more scalable than the other two options I mentioned.

Glad to hear it.. in the long run or even short run, you will be happier with the chassis over the stack of stackables.
