I am looking for something to attach to the e or m leads of a E&M port that when the state changes I can switch a relay contact closure is there anything out there or am I talking something that nobody has done.

What are you using the E&M for? Have you looked at the differnt levels of E&M type 1, 2, 3 etc etc?

the E&M is type 5 two wire, (vic2-EM)I am multicasting some audio from one location to 4 others, I would like to use a relay one side on the 24 volt DC and the other side of the relay to the E lead which would be grounded when active, cisco's web site list nothing in the way of documentation what current/voltage levels are acceptable, through the E-lead the audio is comeing out of the E&M port and going into a amplifier OK or should I not worry about it ?

I am not sure to honest... Assuming the audio is constant and feeding an amp what would be the need of a relay?

the audio is a voice so it isn't really "Constint" by defination, I need the relay to make a seperate contact closure the audio is usually present between 15 and 30 seconds and it's in that 15-30 seconds that i want the relay to make, so I can kick off a 1 second timer, which is what my PA system wants,

there's probably a third party interface (eg viking) that can provide that but you cannot get that directly from an E&M port. You might want to post your question in the general telephony forum or even the cabling forum and see if anyone has a suggestion for such a part.

Kind of long winded but here goes
well after getting through to Cisco and talking to a "warm body" I'm using two relays in tandem, first the 24 volt PS, who ground is connected to the Rack so the Router and the 24 Volt PS are at the same level (grounding wise at least) one side of the first relay is power the other is connected to the E-Lead on the router which above ground when idle, and at ground when active making the relay, the contact closure is set to a TDRPRO-5100 relay which has several mode i am using the "1 shot retriggerable" which means I give it the contact closure by going active, the TDRPRO changes it to a 1 second momentary contact, which is what my pa system wants, as in has multiple inputs each which wants it's own contact closure cisco Gave it their Blessing as long as i stay at Low voltage & current levels in my case about 24 volts and about 60 milliamps I shouldn't have to worry about blowing up anything (I'm also putting a small diode accross the relay just in case of voltage surges after all a relay is a coil which can hold Voltage)
