2811 & usb question

this is probably a "screwey/newbie" question but here goes, the usb ports on the front of the system what would I use them for ? other then perhaps charging a Ipod? perhaps upgradeing the IOS,?(guess) would I be able to save the configuration to a flash drive, if so what sizes are supported? apologies if this is not the correct forum listing

It has to be a cisco specific flash drive to work in the USB port. It is used for ios upgrade and saving configs etcc..
