We need to find a better way to repair a hands free delay on 2616-R1 phones. Right now, we are replacing every single capacitor on the boards. Any tips??????

What is Handsfree Delay

When you hit the bottom, right hands free button, the dialtone is very soft until you hit the top, left handsfree mute button. It's like the mic won't cut off so sound can come through the speaker. It has been an ongoing problem for us. We get it fixed for a little bit, but they fail by the time our customers recieves them. A 2616-R2 never has this problem.

Hate to tell you this but that's they way she works, if you have any background noise as in people talking, copy machines
you will not be able to hear until you Mute. The 2616 is not a full duplex phone, if you want one you need to invest in Polycom units.
Although I've heard that the new releases of 3900 series will be full duplex.

I wonder why the 2616-R2 do not have the problem. We've tried in complete silence and still the problem exists. Also, I wonder why the problem goes away when we change out all the capacitors, sometimes forever, sometimes for only a little while.

Can't answer that but that's why we ust replace phones and send them in for R&R. The only one that may have a answer is the Nortel Equipment Engineers
