what printer do i need to install to print more charactars

If you mean that you can't display the entire contents of a field, this has nothing to do with a printer.

Try taking more than 5 seconds to post and include:

Crystal version
Database/connectivity
Example data
Expected output

Your post doesn't make sense.

256 characters was a limitation of Crystal 8.5, is that what you have?

No complete solution, but you can use Left, Mid and Right to chop up fields into manageable proprotions. Also reunited them in a textbox (I think).

[yinyang] Madawc Williams (East Anglia, UK). Using Windows XP & Crystal 10 [yinyang]

You can't use those functions in a formula in CR 8.5 or below for 254+ character field, Madawc, you can do so within SQL Expressions though, which is dependent upon the database and connectivity used.
