I have a database administration page that I'm trying to set up for a client. I have at least 8 fields that I want to send to the Modify page, but when I set up my parameters in the Modify's hyperlink I run into a 255 character limit error. I've tried trimming the column names in my database, but that wasn't enough. How can I get around this problem? I'm using FPXP.

Also, I have another site designed in FP2000 that has at least this many variables sent to the Modify page, but it doesn't give me the error. It's on another server, too. Is this a software or server problem? Is this 255 character limit a universal thing (all across the internet)?

What can I do to circumvent this problem? I want to be able to show the current settings in the record so the client doesn't have to remember each part of the record just to modify one field in the entire listing.

Thanks.

How about creating a page with a short address that automatically redirects to the modify page and put it's address in the fields...sounds kind of kludgy and might not work...just a suggestion.

The solution was so simple it hurts to say it. Once I got all of my parameters set in the hyperlink field and received the 255 limit warning I just copied the link, cancelled out of the dialog box, highlighted my link and switched to html view, then pasted the link into the html code. Too simple.
