I have a Cisco 2501 and am having problems with it erroring under a heavy load.

Here is the configuration and a rundown of the problem

Cisco2501 Routing 2 t1's from Verio

I have a website that is a newsletter with about 725,000 subscribers. When I go to send this newletter one of my T1's on Verio just craps out. I end up getting thousands of errors on the router and the line bounces so constintly that I cant keep a connection. I have tried changing cables and have tried swapping the CSU....I have tried everything that I can...I have had verizon test this line back to them I have had it tested all the way to verio. The line test clean under all of this. The line even works fine under a normal load. These problems just occur when I am putting ot under a heavy load. Is there any way I can loopback the router say with a loopback plug and then flood the port with traffice to see if I get these errors. What I am trying to do is see if it is my equipment or something else causeing this problem.

Thanks for an help or advice that anyone can give me I really appreciate it

RJ-45 plug.. 1-5 and 2-4 plug it into the T1 end of your DSU/CSU and light'er up.

You didnt say what type of errors you get, it can be a clue. Also, try running a debug on the serial or on the frame if that is what you are using. Can you monitor the CPU and memory via SNMP? you may need to increase the IO buffers for the serial port. Check for queing errors and note if they are inbound or outbound.. they should be outbound.. inbound points back to the telco. CRC errors point to a CO issue. Find someone nearby with the NAI Sniffer and WANbook option. I have this with a T1 option which lets me sniff the T directly. Very useful!

Whats the bandwidth of this T1?
Is it a frame-relay or a PPP?
Have you pressed the loop back button on the csu/dsu? Jeter@LasVegas.com

Yea I have looped it back with a loopback plug and software loopback and it run cleans for the time that I have it on there. For exmaple. This week I reloaded on Friday and reset the counters. It has run clean all the way till today. Today I had a high traffic load on the two T1's and it started to get the errors again. These are input frame and CRC errors. I have had the line tested by verizon and they say it tests clean to them.

I am kind of stuck on where to go with this. I would hate to purchase a new router and that not be the problem. This is a Cisco 2501 router and is a little old. But still. I have switched all the cables and have even swaped CSU/DSU's

Any Adive or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone for the time they have spent to read and respond to this

Thanks
Ron

It's not the problem.. get a tech on site to check the wiring to the demarcation line.. check the NIU for any errors.. check the wiring to your router. Sometimes you really have to push the Telcos to do their job. Explain your router passes in loopback fine.. check to make sure and the telco are using the same encoding. I have seen where "clock slip" can cause this from the telco side.

Run debug and serial interface .. look for LMI, dropped keep alives etc...
