24xx service error 49 ff04 after firmware upgrade

I recently used HP WJA to upgrade the firmware on several of our printers. I have three 24xx printers (a 2420 and two 2430), I upgraded one 2430 and the 2420 printer firmware. Both of these will sometimes for no obvious reason freeze and report a service error 49 ff04. The other 2430 is fine and both work again after reboot.

I'd like to downgrade the firmware but I'm not sure how. Alternately does anyone have any other solutions?

While 49 errors are firmware, the formatter itself could be bad. Re-seat the firmware.{slot J1} If any added memory, remove and try starting printer.
