How do i update teh firm ware on 2420 phone??? thank you

You have to have a tftp server with the latest firmware. In the 'change features' form you have to enter a feature access code for firmware download. This feature code points that phone at your tftp server.

I forgot to mention. The newer releases apparently have a slightly different procedure. You can use the 'change firmware station' command to initiate.

Once again I forgot to mention that you have to add your tftp server's IP address as a 'node-name', then 'change tftp server' to direct the system to your node-name.

I don't follow this, exactly. This is what I have done:
1) Downloaded the file from the Avaya website to the root directory of my PC.
2) Added the IP address of my PC to the IP Node Names as the TFTP server. I am not running a TFTP server program, because it seems to me that it is not necessary because of the way the PBX is set up.
3) I am running a G3R and am very familiar with the process to upgrade Medpros, CLANS, VAL, etc.
4) "change tftp-server" with the node-name of the CLAN card as the local node name, and the name of my PC (see step 2).

This is where it fails. It doesn't seem to be able to find the "TFTP server". Do I need to set up an FTP and upload the .bin file to my CLAN card? The instructions don't mention uploading to the CLAN card. Also, I can't find anything in the security parameters of the G3R that would prevent it.

What am I missing?

The message that I'm getting is "no file in ACP memory". I DO have the Avaya TFTP server on my PC, so I turned it on, and set outbound to C:\, checked "only send this file" 2420_R4.bin, and use port 69.

I still get the same message. I know I'm missing something really simple. Somebody push me over the edge...

Thanks,

Marilynn
