The 2420 doesn't really impress me.. About half of the display could be used a lot better. But button labelling from the IPO is nice though! Unfortunetelly it's not possible to rename the buttons.. (until 3.0)
The 6408/16/24 is actually a nice phone to use. But Avaya should put some work into everyday use. The display should have more "dynamic" menues.. Those who have used 2030/2050 know what i mean!
Keep away from 44xx, it's just crap! Buttons getting stuck, and it's really cheap-looking. The 44xx phones are now removed from our market due to poor quality. Also it only supports mu-law companding, which is a bit of a problem here.. If the CO-lines are A-law ISDN2 a Uni BRI module is necessary. On an A-law ISDN30 there's no chance!
Opinion: the reason why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavours
I still think the 44xx is a good choice for the money, at least in the north american market it was designed to operate in.
Given a choice between a 24 button phone that happens to not work well in europe (like I give a rip! *grin*) or an 8 button phone for about the same price.... you know what I would pick.
On the other hand if money is no object I won't argue that the 64xx phones are clearly better quality.
Slightly of track but apperance keys arnt realy necessary on the 20XX serise phones but can be added from V3.0 if required.
However these phones are not available in the US & avaya are trying hard to phase them out (this is why the IP406V2 is DS only)
Personaly in the UK I prefer the 20XX phones but this is probably due to familiarity (I came from an INDeX background) however the 24XX 64XX & even 46XX series phones all work well it is usualy just a mater of working out the best button configuration for the user.
