I'm helping a collegue who has to deal with a 2400IMX. What they have is weird, distorted dial tone and ring-back tone on one of the 3 stacks. It's the stack that's furthest away from the processor.
Speech is fine, calls complete no problem, but these tones are weird. I'm not sure where the tones come from... Can anyone help out?

Correction to the post: this system is IMS, not IMX...

If it's redundant, try switching over to the standby side of the time division. It could be one of the time division cards in that stack.

I tried the cmod but that didn't fix the problem.
Last night however, the sw05 card was switched out, and since then the system appears to be trouble-free.

I hope you have plenty of spares for that system. Hardware is hard to get on those older systems.

So, the saga continues. What they have now, after changing the sw05 card is no music-on-hold for phones in that stack. So before everything went haywire, all worked well. Then the weird dial tone and the weird ring-back tone came up. The sw05 card was switch, which fixed the problem, but now the MOH went away. The person who did the swap didn't have the Circuit Card manual for the SW05 which detailed the dip-switch settings, so there might be something wrong with that.
He now has the manual, so after-hours, he is going to review the switch settings of that card. Also, he has another SW05 card en-route to him, just in case.

According to my manual the SW-05 has only one switch. The MB make busy switch and no dip switches.

The situation is now fully resolved. I don't know the full details, and in my manual, I also only see an MB switch, but apparently there are more, and when the local guy duplicated the settings from the original sw05, all problem resolved.
