Dear All:

I have an Option 11C presently running 24.24 with no issues. I just purchased a SSC which running Succession 3.0. I would like to up-grade to the Succession SSC and not loose ANY of the existing Station, Trunk, Network (and other general programming)which already exists in the 24.24 SSC. The present plan is: do a data dump on a clean PCIMA card. Remove the 24.24 SSC, install the Succession SSC and insert the new PCIMA card and turn up the system. Is this going to work? Any suggestions or directions on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Chris

I think If you do all you mention There will not problem

No issues if you have to the keycodes to go along with the SSC with 3.0 on it. Depending on the keycodes on the 3.0, you may or may not lose/gain anything.

Keycodes are written against a particular serial # as well as a certain release of software, I doubt it will work

KCFLHRC Thank you for your input. If the Succession has it's dongle in place, isn't that where the serial # is stored? If I have the first and second level passwords can I retrieve the Keycodes?

The problem you will have is when you try and restore the database to the 3.0, I think it will error out because that database has the SN within the backup file.

BTW forgot to mention that the Succession was just removed from a working system, so the 3.0 software is on the SSC. I think that it would be just like powering down the SSC and them powering up, but with a new PCIMA card with different data than what might already exist on the 3.0 SSC. Won't this existing 3.0 SSC be over written by the data on the new PCIMA card?

The main question relates to what keycodes exist on the Succession 3.0 system. Check that when the v24.xx database is loaded onto it that you won't lose any data such as not enough analogue or digital sets.

Personally I would use a different method to carry out the procedure. The NTP books do state that the proper upgrade path was to go to release 25.xx first, before upgrading to Succesion. However I do know that it's OK to use older 11c software releases to jump to 03.xx onwards.

Using a serial port connection via TTY 0, I would do a "XBK" backup in LD 143 onto my computer first. I find that the XBK will drag everything off the system, whereas the PCMCIA card method can leave data out such as IP information etc.

Once you have the backup file, power up the Succession 03.00 and press Ctrl I when it tells you to go to a menu after a couple of minutes.

Follow the example below

WARNING : You must have an Option 11C CCBR file backup up.
WARNING : Your internal backup will be erased.
Are you sure you wish to perform the Restore? (y/n/[a]bort) :

Navigate to where you stored the V24.xx database and load it in. Once it's loaded in the system will carry on powering up with your database set as active.
Look for any errors and check them out.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I would also build out plenty of ACD sets, digital sets and analog sets before you upgrade. Once you go to succssion, you will only have as many licenses as what is built out when upgraded. Then you have to purchase additional licenses if needed. Once you upgrade, you can then out all the "place holder" sets that were built for the upgrade.

I did this exact procedure yesterday and it worked fine. I did it to increase licenses. My production system is on Release 25.40 with 200 TNs and 196 of those are used between phones and trunks. My target system is Release 3 with 280 digital licenses and 56 analog licenses, way more than I need.

I archived the database of the Rls 25 to my PCMCIA card. I booted up the Release 3 system and went into LD 143 and restored the archived database. That was successful. I sysloaded the system and the Rls 25 database was successfully converted to the Rls 3 database. Once midnight routines completed, I logged in and all my data from the production system was in my Rls 3 system.

I had the same concern as KCFLHRC in that I figured I would get errors due to serial number mismatch. Bit I didn't get ANY errors. Worked perfect! Saved me a lot of rekeying and/or script work.

Dear All! First, Thank you all for your help in moving from 24.24 to Succession.

Will try it over a long weekend (just in case I screw up) and let you all know how it went.

Again, many Thanks to all of you who took the time to document the best way to get from here to there.

It's really appreciated by someone who knows enough to be dangerous !!!
