I'm going to have to relocate our operators 2250 console to a different floor. Does this mean I've got to have another 25 pair cable pulled for the connection or is there some kind of adapter I can use and just take advantage of a couple of regular phone cables already in place?

You can use just regular phone cable, but Nortel does not support doing that. I have done this many times.

Telephones and Consoles: description, installation, and Operation NTP will tell you how the wirings are.

You can use 4 pairs cable or best way to do is pull new 25 pairs, Punch down in wiring closet and wire it the same way as it were before.

It depends how busy the operator is, at my last place of employment they used a 3904 with no problem.

You need a AmpChamp to make the Amphenol head, unless you cut the head off the old location and splice it..not a good way, the operator is alway's kicking around down there and will always have problems, not to mention the mess of bags and shoes that accumulates under there.

you can use a suttle 66e3 block if you can't put your on amps on.. i've ran consoles on as few as 2 pair and used local power.. you only need power if the console is far enough away from the switch for the lamps to be dim..

and yes nortel wants us to run 25 pair and cut 21 of then off.. that makes the consoles work better according to their engineers
