I am running a MSI K8Neo, AMD 64 3200, 512 ram, Geforce 5700 128mb, with a Samsung Syncmaster 213T 21.3" screen recently purchased. Horizontal lines and artifacts appear when I play videos (mpeg, dvd, etc.) at full screen or very close to full screen while connected via DVI, but not when I connect the monitor via analog. I can't imagine the DVI having problems at 21", especially with a graphics card that isn't quite over the hill. Has anyone had the same problem? Could the video card be that outdated? And if so will the XFX 6600 GT AGP card that I am going to purchase be able to handle it or will I have the same issues? Thanks for the help and enjoy your super bowl weekends.

21" monitor full screen playback issues with DVI 1

It looks like marginal timings or noise susceptibility on the DVI interface. A problem with the cable?
The analog input uses some buffer and expansion circuitry to strech the image to match the resolution of the tft screen. Not in DVI mode. All the timings come from the graphics card.
Is this a new system? Is there any way that you can show it to the place where you purchased it? The bug can be in the video card as well as in the monitor.
Are you able to set the graphics card timings a the very same specs as what the screen need for its native resolution? Hsync, Vsync, and resolution.

I built this machine, and purchased the monitor at bestbuy. I have exchanged the monitor and am having the same problem. The cable is the new one that comes with the monitor, and I don't think that's the problem. Could you tell me how to set the graphics card timings? That is a process I am not familiar with. You should get the information for the optimal display timings in the user's manual of the monitor. The native resolution is 1600 x 1200. Are there drivers that come with the monitor, or at Samsung's web site. There "monitor drivers" will give the list of available resolutions to the graphics card.
1600 x 1200 is quite a load even for a recent graphics card. At different resolutions, scaling hardware tries to compensate, and it may result in artifacts.
