I have a Windows 2000 Server and there is a folder called FtpRoot in C:\InetPub that is 21.1 Gb in size.

There is no-one using IIS and the FTP Service is disabled.

I have tried deleting the contents of the folder, but I get the error 'Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk' when I click on an Individual file or a group of folders.

I've tried deleting from DOS and changing the attributes from DOS - no luck so far.

Any idea how to delete - I'm running out of space on the C: drive!

Thanks

at one point in the past when ftp was running, you've been hacked!!!

your ftp was being used to stock warez of some kind...

are you able to explore into the folder and see what is taking up the space??

if you dont need IIS, disable it, ita s real sieve in terms of security!!

uninstall IIS, then reboot in safe mode and delete the inetpub folder

Thats pretty much what I thought. I dont need it, but it's not in the Add/Remove Programs list.

I have disabled the Service and stopped everything in relation to it.

If I reboot in Safe Mode, can I just delete the folder without uninstalling?

its not in add/remove, its in windows components....
best removing it that way, then rebooting and deleting the folder.
or at least trying ;-)

Better to uninstall it, you will find it under Add/Remove Windows componants.
