That always confuses me too. When in doubt I just plug the power cord directly into the module to see if it can operate a set. I know common 206 expansion cards are 103E2,3,9,10,18,19 ... where as a baby partner R4.1 is a 103E16.
The 206 module will work by it self or with a processor (partner plus ,2 or ACS)but the 206 E will work only with the processor. If they have the same release then they have the same capability or functionality.I hope that helps Good Luck!
So we can mix and match ? If I am say adding a 206 to a partner plus or partner 11 I can use either a 206 or 206 E as long as I use the correct software release ?
Yes ,you can mix 206 and 206E no problem at all,as long as you have a processor the system will take the features from the processor not the 206,so does't matter what the revision of your 206 or 206 E at all.The only thing that you should consider the release of the 206 or 206 E that if you have an external VM (third party) or if you using single line phones, the you should have at least rel 3.1 or higher of the 206 module either one ,because that release or higher has a positive disconnect and enhanced circuit for the single line circuits.I hope that helps and clears some issues. Good Luck!
Thanks samh30 I didn't know that. While we are on the subject, do you know the compatibilty differences between a 103E9 and a 103E18, and a 103E10 and 103E19. I seem to recall something about pass-through issues when using integrated voicemails (i.e. PMVS). Anything anyone knows as fact is appreciated.
You should't worry about these numbers ,you should only consider the release. But anyway as far as I remember 103E2 is 206 R1,E3 is Rel 2,E8 is R3.0,E9 is R3.1,E16 is R4.0,E18 is R 4.1.I never heared any issues with any 206 modules with VS mails ,as I mentioned you should only consider the release (3.1 or higher) if out side VM that will interface thru an extension of the system then you will have to use R3.1 or higher. Good Luck!
