I have stacked up a few , well several failed 206 power supplies. I use to be a Motorola RF two-way tech for many years, so I would like to fix them, anybody have schematics or recommendations. I.E. a source for those little fuses, better transistors (FETs), etc.

Thanks, Robert

[b}is it really worth it????
refurbed ones can be bought for under 75 bucks...[/b]

refurbed usaully means nothing more than whipe clean and confirm power up.

as these systems age it would be well worth having the ablity to repair these

Hi roberth5,
It is worth it to repair these. I have used a better fet (runs cooler). None have failed again in a year & a bit. I think I used IRF 640's. Used heatsink greak when you mount them and make sure that the heatsink is flat where the part mounts. Also, make sure the heatsink clip holds snugly.

Chris:

I hate to throw things away that can be fixed, I will go to MCM's site and see if I can find some of those transistors. However, first I am going to try to draw out that supply circuit, see if I can get some measurements from a working supply, test some of the higher current components, determine what ratings they are running at, watts they are dissipating, etc...

Do not want to bark up the wrong tree..., once I draw out the circuit, I will be able to see what does what and more quickly hone in on the weak links in the chain.

I was just hoping that there were schematics out there that would save me the time of backing into this. It’s not a too densely populated circuit board anyway, will not take long to trace it out, just a pain in the rear.

Thanks, Robert

Hi Robert,
I would love schematics if you ever find them. The only other failures I have seen so far are the pico fuses, rectifiers and there is a zener that runs hot. I think it's around 51 - 56V. Sorry, haven't looked in a while.

Robert, I would like to know if you would like to repair some 206 cards I have, let me know.
