Hi all
I have 2 servers, both Windows 2000, and both Domain Controllers. I'm currently running Veritas Backup Exec 8.6. One server is currently configured as the backup (media) server. The other is running Exchange 2000 and has the Veritas Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 installed. The Exchange agent is installed on the media server as it should be.
I have been through all the install information provided by Veritas. The backup exec service account has all the correct permissions. The problem is that when ever I perform a brick level backup of the mail boxes, the job fails with the following error in the log:
Unable to attach to \\<server name>\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes - Access denied.
It is worth pointing out though that I can select individual mail boxes when submitting the job. Is also woth noting that backups of the entire information store & system state backups finish with out error.
I have scoured multiple sites, all of which provide various ideas. I have re-read the documentation provided by Veritas. I have tried the following hacks / fixes listed at various sites:
- Recreating the mailbox for the service account, and initializing it.
- Logging onto the server as the service account to run the job.
- Unhide the service account from the GAL.
- Delegated full administrative control to the service account in Exchange system attendent
- Hacked the registry, updating the Restrict Anonymous Support value, and adding useAdSSCheck DWORD value (set at 0)
- Setting service account rights on the individual mailboxes I want to back up.
Still, no joy. The only error I can see in the SGMON debug log is:
2056: Error 1060 opening cluster on \\<server name>
2056: Error 0 on NetShareEnum of \\<server name>, level 1
If anyone can shed more light on a possible solution - please let me know... I'm aging quickly, and starting to thing I should have used another backup solution....
Regards
Rob
