Can anyone give me a general idea of why a 2050 softphone would have 1 way speach path when connected remotely.
I do not have any details so i am just looking for off the cuff thoughts at this time. I am visiting the site tommorrow to trouble shoot and get more details but i am hoping to have an idea of what to look at.

It is connecting to a bcm 400 4.0

I guess the one way audio is not between the i2050 and a physical set on the bcm side but probably between 2 i2050 each on their own vpn. There's probably no route between the two.
Remember that when the call is established, the bcm is out of the picture and that's why they need to know how to get to the other phone.Look for their gateway as well.

How are you connecting remotely? Are you on their MPLS network or are using a VPN to connect?

If it's a VPN you probably have a firewall issue with some of the UDP ports being blocked or you need to add an ACL to it.

If the phone registers, then it's a good bet the problem is with the firewall setup. IP packets travel directly from phone to phone when the call is ip set to ip set but if it's from the ip set (your 2050) to a tdm set, then the packets have to flow to the bcm, then from the bcm back out. IT guys usually set up the ACLs to accommodate for the inbound traffic but sometimes forget about setting up a route back out.

That sounds good, they did tell me it was MPLS.

Thanks
