I'm trying to set up this firewall/vpn appliance, but can't even get the WAN light to come on. We have been using a W2K server with NAT, and the connection is fine. Using the same cable and everything. I just can't seem to figure this out. I think it may actually be a defective unit; but thought I'd thow this out to see if anyone has had the same issue.

If the LED doesn't even come on for the firewall you may need to use a Cross-over cable rather then a straight-through cable. Because the firewall is a network device and not an end node. The MS server you were running before with two NIC's was still considered an end node as far as cabling goes. So give a X-over cable a try before you trade in the unit.

I had tried a cross-over cable as well. Actually, tried a few differant patch and cross-over cables. Sorry, should have mentioned that in my original post.

Symantec support has determined it to be a hardware problem. I am going to do a firmware upgrade, as per their instructions. We'll see if that does the trick!
