Windows server 2008 terminal server
when users try to open an word attachment or other attachment or double click on a word document on the desktop they get the message "Document cannot be found" followed by the correct location of the document

I have four identical servers all with the same problem
.doc is correctly associated
has anyone else seen this

Thanks

HI,

Few quick questions

Was this working or just has it just stopped?

What version of office did you install?

Do you do any desktop file re-direction?

Can the open files from a shared drive?

Is it all office files or just doc files?

Can the user open word then browse to the file?

(1) never worked
(2) office 2003
(3) no redirection
(4) Not by double clicking them if they go through word file open then yes
(5) Just doc file
(6) Yes the on

More Info

It appears to be a permissions issue as if I log on as local admin they work fine does any one know whee this may be set?

Thanks

Are you using roaming profiles or does each user just use the local profile created on each server? I know that 2008 is funny about ownership, if using roaming profile (i.e Terminal Services User Profile setting in Active Directory). If you don't have the user set to owner, goofy things happen. Probably just need to add Creator Owner perms to the Users folder on the TS servers.

Windows Haiku:

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Question; did you install Office as a terminal server app? did you install it before installing TS? Sounds like you installed only under your user context so it's not TS aware

Firstly the users are using local profiles

I did not install office as a ts app but I do not have this problem with Excel etc only word
