Good evening.
In my company we install business applications suites on several windows servers.
Usually I'm not who deals with OS licenses, but this time I got to do it.
making short the long tale, I was given a purchase order with a code from Microsoft, in order to activate a 2008 (R1) Server which I installed, since the Server box comes with no windows disc, i used the first disc at hand, which resulted to be an OEM disc.
the first answer from Microsoft was "reinstall"
I cannot do that since server was sent abroad to customer data center, and I spent several days installing the business apps, and later configuring and testing.
a question not for newbies but for veterans, can I do something to fix this without starting again from scratch?
note that I don't want to do anything illegal, since indeed I'm trying to apply a purchased license.
