Can i run windows 2008 R2 server in terminal mode considering i have the necessary terminal client license?

Thanks

Yes, except that in R2 the name has been changed to Remote Desktop Services (RDS) from Terminal Services (TS).

Is it possible to add RDS or TS license if the server is an AD? thanks

Possible: Yes, but you should want to do that and is strongly discouraged by MS, because of the heavy load a TS/RDS can cause when actually used, and the security issues it has, according to this forum thread

If you wanted to install the licensing role, that wouldn't be an issue. I would never recommend installing a terminal server/RDS Session Host on a DC. That's just begging for a nightmare.
