Hello,

I am in the process of migrating a DB from 2003 to 2007. I want to be able to distribute it with the 2007 runtime that just became available (again). However, the main DB resides on a windows 2003 server. I want the "packaged" msi to install the runtime and point the source to the DB on the server. So far I can create the installer package but it creates a copy of the database and palces it on the local machine. Can anyone point me to some good documentation on this? I hope this was clear enough.

Thanks in advance

JK

Having used the 2003 runtime, you have to package a database file that is placed on the local machine. You could however add a shortcut to the file on the server or have the sole purpose of the database be to copy the shortcut.

However, I must add that the best approach to multi user environments is a split front end and backend and there is a FAQ on how to update a Front end. So likely you should package your database with the front end.
