2007 Fields on Forms go into Word like table structures

I am creating forms in 2007 and the fields automatically go into Word like table structures and they are very difficult to work with. I have manually deleted each field from the table structure and pasted it back onto the form so it is separate but if I move it too close to another field, it puts them back into a table structure. Is there a way to turn this behavior off?
