had a folder that I couldnt add another user to.

so I copied data to another folder, gave same users permissions, suddenly everyone had read only access!

originally I had named it same as original folder, so I changed the name and set it back up, same issue.

so then I ended sharing. changed permissions so that only the group of users had access (gave them full)and the administrator account had full access, then went to security settings and only have the user group and administrator listed (full permissions) turned off inherited permissions, and yet they still have read only access!

what is going on?
anyone ran into this before?

Check the Share permissions. They are Read Only by default on a W2k3 server.

did that, had the users setup there already, no change.

so I copied the data to a folder on another file server, setup share and security permissions, and it works fine now.

weird.
