Howdy All -

I am slowly putting some Vista machines on my network and my new application servers are Windows 2008 64bit. All my domain controllers are 2003 (and its unlikely I'll be getting a 2008 DC until next year, much less going to a full 2008 domain for about 2).

I use one of my domain controllers as the print server for my domain; may not be a 100% best practice but that is one of the primary reasons for having that box.

I'm running into a driver problem with Vista and Server 2008 in that they don't necessairly like the ones XP and 2003 use (no big deal). Is there any way to add Vista & 2008 print drivers to the additional drivers list under sharing in 2003? A few things I've found on the net suggest extending the AD schema to the 2008 version and that would do it but I've not seen anything concrete.

Thoughts?

extending the schema is highly unlikely to yield any type of results in regards to adding additional printer drivers for availability. this would just tell AD it can, not tell the print servers how and where....make sense?
