Hello all,
I performed an upgrade on one node of a 2000 Advanced Server (SP4) cluster on Friday night. The OS upgrade itself went fine but I am having a few issues that need to be resolved before I can upgrade the second node. I'm aware that the cluster service needs to be in the local Administrators group, but in this instance both cluster nodes are also Domain Controllers. This could well be the root cause of my problems (I added the cluster service account to a domain group called Administrators and then the cluster service started. File shares, SQL server 2000 etc all failover between nodes as expected).
1. When trying to create a generic script resource and pointing to clusweb.vbs the resource fails to start. Looking in the cluster log I can see that the script is failing on line 14. Now, I think it is possible to create a generic service resource and point it to w3svc but I don't want to do that. MSDTC resource already exists. The cluster log also looks to have a few permissions errors. The IIS services themselves start and serve content just fine, but it would appear that the cluster service doesn't have a permission that it needs.
2. None of the Exchange 2003 resources will come online. The actual exchange services look like they will start (I started the SA to test) but again, looks like cluster admin is missing something.
3. 2003 SP1 will not install. It gets somewhere near the end and fails with a vague "Access is denied" message, and then rolls back.
Am I hosed because these nodes are DCs? Its not going to be easy to move those functions elsewhere, because there isn't really many other boxes to choose from
If anyone has any suggestions, they will be gratefully received.
