2000IVS - 11 years old:

We were told that if a failed CPU card has to be replaced in the 2000IVS, there is no longer a way to register a replacement CPU (would have to be a used part since components are now obsolete and unsupported) to obtain an "IVR#" for it.

The question is: If we found the IVR# of the current CPU, or if a used CPU card of proper vintage is purchased that has the IVR# documented, can we upload backup programming data to it (backups have been regularly made) and use it as a replacement with either the old CPU's IVR# or with the new IVR#?

Not sure if any of this is relevant, but we do have the CPU Serial#, as well as the Serial#'s for FD#1 and FD#2 pulled off via CMD80.

This the grey area that a lot of companies are now making money off when they don't really have the right to IMHO!

Why is it your problem that the product has failed? You have paid for it and they should not have the right to say sorry but we don't support it anymore (a purchased product shouldn't need support to function normally). In some countries they are forced to maintain the product for a given amount of time (even that is restrictive IMHO)!

Whilst I can't countenance copyright infringement (until a judge has the B@&&$ to put a stop to this) consult your second hand dealer and see how they can help!

It hasn't failed yet, but there has been no maintenance contract for almost a year and a half. Now a vendor has been asked to quote maintenance and they have reservations about possibly not being able to support the CPU if there's a problem. The information came from them.

You could purchase a spare CPU in advance and a good trick would be to purchase one from Australia. Reason being, we don't have to register the CPUs here. All you have to be careful of is ensure that it can support as many PIMs as you need and all the features you want! Two possible suppliers are Westcoast phones in Morley Western Australia, or Silver communications in Melbourne! One point you should know is that in Oz the IVS was sold under a different name! Down here it was the 7400 ICS120

Expect to pay about AU$1500

As long as you have the IVR number that is registered to the specific CPU then you can load a back up then re-input the IVR number. According to NTAC the server is off line and no longer boots up.
