Hi. I have a slight issue and need some help (or pointed in the right direction).

I have two locations (with two different network #'s) and will have an NT server (acting as the PDC) at a local location and a 2000 server at a remote location....

How do I utilize the 2000 server to 'act' as the 'backup domain controller (sorry for the NT 4.0 reference)' for the local domain so that I can authenticate users at the remote location?

ANY help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Bob

You can't. A 2000/2003 server cannot be a domain controller in an NT domain. It can only be a domain controller in an active directory domain, which would mean first upgrading your NT PDC to 2000/2003.

an NT server can be a BDC in a 2000 domain.. it'll just think its in an NT domain.

mister lichstein is spot on about this, you'll have to do some server swapping here...

if you can, go for 2 x 2000 servers... you could do an inplace updrage if the hardware of the NT4 can handle it...
