This error is often caused by the screen pop prefernces setup - if it is set incorrectly or set to pop an a source that does not exist you can get this error.
Check that pop act/goldmine etc is not set if not using them.

this is occuring after install, during fisrt start

This is a problem with a .dll or .ocx wich has not been registered in the windows registry.
It can be a shared .dll file used by windows wich has been deleted when another program was uninstalled.
If you know wich .dll is missing then you can register the file manually with regdll32.exe.
