We have been running a Win95 peer-to-peer TCP/IP LAN with about 15 users. One PC has a mail server accessed by clients' MS Outlook and a proxy server to accept dial ups across the LAN. The only networking funtions we use are WinPopup and a shared folder for certain documents. Users haven't even been entering Network paswords on booting up.
Now that we have ADSL I am running 2000 Pro on one PC which has LAN and Internet connections. What I would like is to avoid buying 2000 Server if possible. My questions are:
Will it be possible to have 15+ PCs access a shared folder on the 2000 Pro PC? How should the 2000 Pro machine be configured so that Network Neighbourhood on the client PCs functions as if it were still a 95 peer-to-peer LAN? Why, whatever I try, can I not get client 95 PCs to access the 2000 Pro shared folder? (I always get a request to enter a password).
Thanks for any help.
Tony.
