Ok guys i hate to ask this cause i am sure it is rather simple. I have had this problem before and fixed it with no problem so basically i am trying to find out for sure if there is a hardware problem or what. This is happening with 2000 and XP so i figured i would post here also.
Ordered a barebone system for a lady and it is a soyok7vem.
The processor is a AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Ok at first i didnt look at the jumper settings on the motherboard and notice that there was a setting for the FSB being 100 and 133 and 166. So basically i loaded XP on the machine at the 100 setting and it worked perfect. No problems at all except it being slower than it can be. So i said the heck with that and shut down and rebooted and formatted the hard drive. Shut down and changed jumper setting to the 133 so the processor would read 2.0 gigs.
I have the jumper setting right for sure.
I cleared the Cmos and all. So anyway i stick the disk in and try to load XP again but at the new setting. It keeps giving errors that compstui.dll was not copied and various others. If i click ok it will go on through but of course it will not boot after installation.
I just cant get this figured out to save my life.
Does anyone have any other input. I would really appreciate it. As i said i have cleared the CMOS and formatted the drive and the CD just will not load. I even changed the jumpers BACK to the 100 setting on the motherboard and still wont load. I mean it loaded fine the first time and now nothing. Same .dll errors everytime.
PLEASE HELP lol
Thanks in advance
