2000 is not recognising my HP Dat Drive in Competr Management or Ntbackup

It is showing as hardware though

Any ideas?

Thanks

In device manager is it showing up as a tape device or other devices?

We had a dell server with a seagate tape drive in. Until we updated the driver it wouldnt show in computer management. Sounds similar to what you got.

I had a problem at my last job with a 2000 server that would periodically unmount the DAT drive and just flat out ignore it, no matter what I did. At the time, I thought the drive was getting ready to go because it was kinda old.

It would always pick it back up again during scheduled reboots (and just in time for backups!!!), and my boss was cheap, so I didn't sweat it too much...
