We are opening a 2nd site. Our first site is totally NT4.DHCP,DNS and even WINS all sitting on an NT4 Server (this will not change). However whilst planning the servers for site 2, we decided we were going avoid using WINS again and opted to try and setup a dedicated 2000 server specifically supplying DHCP and dynamic DNS to the NT4 workstations and servers in site 2. This will be the only 2000 machine in the domain (both sites). NOTE:The two sites are on a different subnet seperated by routers and are members of the same domain. The 2000 server will service only site 2.
My question is this, Does anybody know how easy this is to implement, or know of any reasons why I shouldn't go down this route. My 2000 skills aren't great (do i need to have active directory running?). Are there any good resources/whitepapers on the net on this subject
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated
