here is the scenario:
i have a 24 switch, router (connected to a high speed modem) , then i have a wire runing from the switch to a different floor in a building (about 200 m long) then that cable is connected to another small switch where 2 computers are connected to that switch, now these 2 computers can't see the network, (if i ping a machine in the main floor, the 1 out of five is a good reply)
it seems that the singal is not strong enough , now if i connect that wire straight to one of these 2 computers, it works fine,

so i only have the problem if i connect the second small switch

what do you think the problem is, >> is really because its a long cable, if it is, how would i fix that problem ? do have to get a repeater ? if yes, where is the best place to have it ?

Thanks for any help or thoughts

If your running the data over cat5 then recommended max length is 100meters to meet standards.

So you would want some sort of repeater in the middle so there is about 100meters either side either that or run a piece of fibre and get data converters.
