I seem to be running into a rather strange problem. Office is intermitently. When i save files, so of the time it saves the file with space in it; and sometimes it saves them with the %20 ascii code for spaces in the filename. I can't even seem to duplicate it with the same file all the time. I'm at a loss as to how to stop this or solve it.

I believe this has a lot more to do with Windows and your version than with Office. Either give us your version of windows here, or browse on over to the Windows forum. Give them your version, tho, cause they'll be asking.

:)

This is in win 98 and office XP.

This only happens in office XP/outlook XP

Mainly word. If I open a document in word; then save it later.... 25% of the time it saves with the %20(s)

So, you are opening a Word file through Outlook and then doing a file-save as?

You should ALWAYS detach files, unless you're going to ONLY read it or ONLY print it. Just right-click and choose Save attachment.

For what it's worth - %20 is sometimes used as a space character on Web Page links. Sandy

No, what i'm doing is loading files on my hard drive or on my outlook attachement. It isn't solely in attachments.

Sounds like Windows is not allowing you to use the filenames. It's a setting in windows and I'm not sure. Make sure nothing is checked under:

Start-Settings-Control panel, System, Performance tab-File System button, Troubleshooting tab.
