2 versions of Illustrator on computer

I've installed Ill 10 upgrade to a computer that has Ill 8.01 and now I see both versions on the computer. Should the upgrade have installed over the older version or is this the way Illustrator Upgrade works.

Many Adobe upgrades are the full thing - just needing the old registration number to install.

Before discarding 8 check your plugins and templates folders in the 8 folder. You might have some that you want to move to the appropriate folder in 10 - although some might not work due to some format changes.

That worked. I missed at the start of installation,
Select - insert prior version disk for verification - and follow the instructions. Thank you very much.
