Hi all-Two servers, NW4.11 SP8, going to upgrade to 5.1 SP8, then to 6.5 SP3 SBS. NDS is healthy, ran deploy manager, followed all the steps, all completed ok. Had to run pkidiag to fix a couple of problems found there, all fixed ok. Server 1 upgrade flawless, on to 6.5 success.
Server 2, upgrade to 5.1 appeared ok, ran deploy manager, pre 6.5 (as before) health check found sys free space too small. Purged files, (had not been done since 2000), got the free space I needed. Ran health check util again, now several errors, timesync, NICI, util could not finish. Ran dsrepair, yeech. Illegal schema class errors, could not decode extended schema errors, operation or update failed with error -807. Automatic repair aborted. The server is "running" but this cannot be good, I really need to continue my upgrade. Any thoughts?

ouch. take a step back and don't try to force anything through. lots of different angles here that need to be covered. Schema, PKI, NDS..

Might be more than something that can be tackled here. Start with getting Time syncronized then work on NDS and the schema.

More info-This is a single server in its own tree.

Marvin-Thanks for your input, I took that step back, read all my error logs and launched my attack. Rebuilt the schema (fixed all but three errors) did a vrepair on sys purging deleted files, ran dsrepair. All errors fixed. Ran deploy manager, passed ok for upgrade. Started the upgade, but the install wizard is not happy with my free space. Apparently the install files put me in the red.
Looking over my directories on sys: I have a directory of files for nw4sp8, and gw5sp4. Now that I have upgraded to 5.1sp8, is it safe to remove these directories? Groupwise is not used at this time either. These directories would free up about 300Mb. The other option looks like it may be Portlocks Storage Manager. Is this a good option? Thanks again,
Bill

You said that you have 2 servers, but then you said it's a single server tree. what's up with that? Even with a single server tree, you need to have Time syncronized and DS reporting to be in synch. It's critical.

Also, those directories can be removed.

Also if you need to free space, look in SYS:SYSTEM for any folders called "BACKSP3" or something similar. They can be removed and are usually fairly sizeable.

To clarify- I have two separate locations, each with its own server on a single tree. I am upgrading now, eventually we will link up.
Yes, I also found the directories you mentioned. I've got enough space now. Thanks again.
