I know that this is really simple. And I know that I have seen it on here before. But I can't find it. Can someone help a silly fool out with this. The 2 fields that I have are Loan type and p/r. I want to have a report show in 1 text box ;

loan type & "" & p/r

How do I do it.

Thanks

Thanks,

Create an unbound text box and use the following expression as its control source...

=[Loan type] & " " & [p/r]

I did that and it came up as #error

#Error means that Access isn't able to evaluate the expression. It's generally because there is a spelling error in the field, or it can't find the field value.

I created a small table here with two fields, Loan type (text field) and p/r (number field).

I entered a few values and created a report. The expression worked fine at my end.
=[Loan type] & " " & [p/r]

Therefore I'm not sure what's happening at your end.

i got it. I just did the combine at the query level.

Good.

By the way, the same #Error occurs if you drag an existing field onto a report and then tried to concatenate that field and another. You need to do a concatenation of 2 fields by starting with an unbound text box.

In any event, this is just for reference. You have things working.

Tom, thanks for the follow-up on this issue. Your last comment was exactly the issue I was having, and it was driving me absolutely mad! Once I created a new unbound text box rather than changing a previously bound box into an unbound box, everything worked perfectly!
Thanks!
