First, I am curious about the SecuityPatch.log file that is created on the scan. One scan placed the file under c:\temp and another scan placed it under c:\winnt\temp. I am curious why the two different locations and does SMS choose the latest file. I am wondering this because I was trying to install MS03-040 and it was not installin, its advertisement status was telling me that the patch wasn't applicable when I know that it is.

Second, does any one have any experience using the expedited program. I am trying to verify that hardware inventory is actually taking place on completion. The only way I know to verify is to check the date on the hardware inventory log and the log is not being updated. So it appears to me that hardware inventory is not running.

Any help would be great.

The article definately answered my question on the SecurityPatch.log, and I think it answered my question on the expedited scan. I guess I am still wondering, does the /kick actually start the hardware inventory agent? By reading your article it doesn't seem so.
