I have two messages in my queue that I get an error when trying to delete. They are from address:<> and when I try to delete, Exchange gives me:

--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
Action 'Remove (with NDR)' could not be performed on object 'RE: Test to determine if email can be delivered & Received'.

RE: Test to determine if email can be delivered & Received
Failed
Error:
The requested operation can't be performed for the object with identity MyMailServer\Submission\7996.

Any ideas?

Ok, finally found my answer, so just in case someone else has this issue.

During a moment of downtime, I stopped the transport service, renamed the queue log folder and the queue db folder (I keep mine on separate luns like the IS logs and DBs), recreated new directories (same name as before), made sure the security was the same between old and new directories, then restarted the transport service. This recreated the appropriate files in the directories and I tested message flow inside and outside. Everything works fine and no more stuck messages so no more Application Event errors every 30 minutes either.

Special thanks to James Luo at MS Technet forums for helping me on this.
